The Delhi government has moved to stop unnecessary VAT raids which result in harassment of traders while ensuring that fair revenue is earned by the government. VAT collections have increased substantially this year due to the decrease of inspector raj and the simplification of VAT rules. Raids at cinema halls, unless approved by a commissioner, have been stopped. A DVAT bill app has been created which has resulted in moving power to the general public under the "bill banvao, inaam pao" scheme. With the possibility of winning prize money equal to several times the bill amount, consumers are incentivized to ask for the bill and thus traders are also incentivized to report correct TIN numbers and other details.
