Introduce Competition Amongst Discoms
AAP reiterates the promise made in its December 2013 Delhi manifesto of providing consumers the right to choose between electricity providers. We will introduce competitive distribution, which will provide better services and lead to lower tariffs.

The AAP Delhi government is in the process of introducing a more equitable and open market for discom competition. However, the BJP led Central Government through the Lieutenant Governor has used the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) as a poltical playground and to further its political vendetta, Lt Governor Najeeb Jung scrapped the appointment of Krishna Saini as chairperson of Delhi's power regulator DERC by AAP government on grounds of legal infirmities, further escalating the already intense confrontation between the two sides.

This is still being considered within the government. Action on it will be taken after the draft CAG report is tabled.

After the CAG audit results are confirmed by the Higher Courts, the AAP Government will introduce genuine competition amongst discoms.
